Silverman, Samuel

Silverman, Samuel
(1895-1968)
   British politician. Born in Liverpool, he studied at Liverpool University. He was a lecturer in English at the University of Helsinki. Later he worked as a solicitor and entered local politics. In 1932 he became a city councillor in Liverpool. Subsequently he entered parliament. He campaigned for the abolition of capital punishment for nearly 30 years.
